Interview

What made you decide on your major?

I chose finance mainly because of how versatile it is in terms of covering a wide range of positions as well as being a great path into the renewable energy industry. I've always known that I'd want to work in energy sustainability one day and finance is a key aspect of how sustainability companies operate and become successful long term.

Why did you decide to pursue the Energy Scholars program and what do you hope to gain from it?

This program was interesting to me because I felt like it was a great opportunity to explore and better understand the sustainability industry from various different angles, while also being able to learn from experienced professionals in the field. Ultimately, I would like to gain a deeper understanding of the energy sustainability industry from a financial perspective, and hopefully discover where I could potentially contribute to the industry in the future. I’m also excited to explore Seattle and learn more about the city along the way!

What are your career aspirations within renewable energy? What kind of impact do you hope to make in your chosen field?

From a career perspective, I would like to build a deep understanding of how the financial aspects of sustainability contribute to a renewable energy company’s growth and success. In terms of impact, I hope to be part of developing and supporting projects that promote the sustainable use of clean energy in the future, while ultimately contributing to the global energy transition toward a more sustainable planet.

What is one thing that people would be surprised to learn about you?

Growing up, I always had a strong interest in nature and I wanted to travel the world as a Zoologist. While my career interests have evolved over time, my interest in environmentalism has certainly been a major factor in pursuing a career path focused on energy sustainability.
