Interview

What made you decide on your major?

I have always had a strong fascination with the natural world, be it animals or natural landscapes. I lived in many different countries in the Caribbean when I was younger, and being able to enjoy the forests and beaches there influenced my passion for protecting those landscapes. I think that's what ultimately led me to pursue my major.

Why did you decide to pursue the Energy Scholars program and what do you hope to gain from it?

I developed a strong interest in Clean Energy during my senior year of college. I realized that it is a lot more complex than just windmills and solar panels, and that there is ample politics and legislation regarding clean energy citing. I think that it is an emerging technology that I'd like to learn more about, and the Energy Scholars program provided me with the perfect opportunity to have a guided mentorship while learning more about the field.

What are your career aspirations within renewable energy? What kind of impact do you hope to make in your chosen field?

I'd love to either get into energy citing or some sort of energy policy field. I would love to eventually either work on projects that would allow lower income areas to have accessible clean energy, or do something relating to researching the effect of AI and energy.

What is one thing that people would be surprised to learn about you?

Despite living in the Caribbean for several years, I have no idea how to swim.
