Q3 2026 data from the GC Marketplace shows hourly-matched clean energy holding its value in PJM, after one year of trading.
What stood out in Q3:
- Premiums held consistent. Type 1 GCs (wind, solar, geothermal) traded between $29.16 and $51.03 per MWh, a 5% to 85% premium over the applicable monthly REC futures reference price.
- Volume remains strong. Q3 trading volume was 437% above Q4 2025, our launch quarter. Volume dipped 19% from a record Q2.
- Evening hour premium. Evening hours (HE17–HE21) settled at the highest prices, while midday hours (HE10–HE15) settled lowest, a spread of more than $10 per MWh.
- Renewables drive premiums. Every matched trade had wind and solar as the underlying technology – nuclear and hydro didn’t close any trades.
